RULES 

1) Name:
The Quinquennial Tile Award

2) Target:
The Quinquennial Tile Award is an international architecture award reserved to all those professionals realizing important works in the architecture and design field through a creative use of the ceramic materials of the Fincibec group with brand Naxos, Monocibec and Century. The initiative is conceived and promoted by the Fincibec group in collaboration with Ottagono magazine and intends to select and award the five best artists at an international level realizing projects between 01.01.2005 and 31.12.2009 for residential, public and industrial/commercial interventions.

application from 01.10.2009 to 30.04.2010; prize awarding by the jury at the latest on 31.05.2010.

5) Participants:
The participants of “The Quinquennial Tile Award” can be, without any fee:
architects, designers, interior designers, engineers, surveyors, technical agencies, professional architecture or design agencies, project creators even without qualification, such as owners realizing projects using the ceramic materials of the Fincibec group with brand Naxos, Monocibec and Century.
Works produced by individuals or groups shall be admitted: in the latter case, a person responsible for the group must be indicated to whom the Organizing Secretariat will refer for any communication.
One or more works shall be admitted for each participant.
Every participant shall be exclusively responsible for giving his/her approval and the approval by the customer/owner for the produced works, for the purposes of both the contest participation and possible publishing.

6) Participation procedure:
The award participation applications need to include the following material:

  • application sheet (enclosed, to be downloaded from the site www.tileaward.org or to be asked for at the Organizing Secretariat of the award) duly filled in with the required data.
  • Photographic evidence of the work realized. Min. 3 different images in digital format (high definition, min. 300 dpi) or pictures as alternative are required. The digital images must be sent in an easily readable format, namely: Acrobat PDF, JPEG, TIFF.
  • ID document xerox copy.
  • Acquittance by the participant and owner/customer for publishing the work.
  • A short introduction of the realized project (max. 500 words).

 

7) Application deadline:
all above documents must be sent at the latest on 30.04.2010 by mail or by e-mail.

         a) MAILING: the complete documents can be mailed in a single envelope to the Award Organizing Secretariat, at the latest on        30.04.2010 (the mail stamp shall prove it), at the following address:

NB: the mailed material must be sent making sure it cannot be damaged during the transport. No responsibility for damaging can be accepted.
The material you have provided will not be returned.

         b) E-MAILING: the complete documents can be filled in and also e-mailed to the following address:
segreteria@tileaward.org

To be admitted to the award, the produced material must anyway be received at the latest on 10.05.2010. The organizing company shall not accept any responsibility for delays due to the mail service or to failed e-mail reception.

8) Prizes:
Prizes to be given in this international award represent the acknowledgment of the
personal artistic merit of the participating professionals. The winners will receive the following prizes:

  • first classified: an award for a total value of 10,000 €, represented by a voucher to be used at the travel agency “BRADIPO TRAVEL DESIGNER” to purchase a trip to be chosen among the following architectural capitals: Berlin, New York and Dubai.
  • Second to fifth classified: Italian design object for a value of 2,000 €.

         Should the winners not benefit from the prizes for any reason, they can delegate third parties or ask for the prices to be turned into cash.

  • All those admitted to the award for their works shall receive a free yearly subscription to Ottagono magazine.

Ottagono magazine will publish a special report of the event particularly enhancing the works of the awarded professionals.

9) Jury:
Works admitted to the award shall be assessed by a jury composed of five authoritative members with remarkable expertise in the field of ceramic, design and architecture.

The jury shall be composed of the following members:

- Vittorio Borelli, Managing Director of Fincibec Spa Group
- Sofia Cortellini Klein, Managing Director of KleinRusso
- Architect Raffaella Mantovani
- Alessandro Lolli, Managing Director of Ottagono magazine
- Aldo Colonnetti, Scientific Chief of the European Design Institute.

The jury assessment shall be final and unquestionable.

10) Exclusion conditions:
All those sending the required documents later than the specified deadlines, the employees, aides, family members and relatives (up to the second degree included) of the jury members, of the Organizing Secretariat, of the Fincibec Spa group and of Ottagono shall not be admitted to the award.
Works deemed not suitable or not compliant with the rules shall not be admitted.

11) Notice to the winners and result publishing:
The prize winner shall be informed by phone call, e-mail and/or return receipt registered letter.
The contest results, winners and best works shall be published on the Web site ...

12) Prize giving:
The first prize winner shall receive by mail, e-mail and/or phone all operating instructions to benefit from his/her prize.
All other prizes shall be shipped by courier without any additional fee directly to the address specified in the application sheet, unless different instructions are given.

13) Personal data processing:
Personal data collected through the procedures of asking information on the initiative shall be stored on a database owned by the promoting company, which is the responsible and controller of the processing.
The user personal data shall be used by the data controller according to the privacy protection principles stated by the Italian Law Decree no. 196 dated 30.06.2003 and by other norms in force on this matter.
This information covers the personal data sent by the user when asking for specific info. The organizing company processes the personal data of the participants through all operations described in the Italian Law Decree 196/2003 - namely collecting, recording, arranging, keeping, processing, disclosing to third parties, if necessary - mostly with automated and computer procedures.

14) Acceptance of the rules:
Participating to the award involves the full and unconditional knowledge, approval and acceptance of these rules in every clause. The promoting company reserves to ask for integrations of the received material (sending of drawings, graphic tables or any material aiding the understanding of artistic, architectural and functional merits of the project) should it deem this necessary for assessing the produced work.
By participating in the award, applicants grant a non-exclusive right of publishing the works and authorize to use the produced works for promotional purposes (photographic material, digital images, project papers) without claiming any copyright. Anyway, organizers shall be relieved from all civil or penal liabilities toward third parties.
These rules shall be applied to any objection. The Italian law shall be applied to any controversy or aspect not expressly specified herein and the Court of Modena shall have jurisdiction.
